Healthcare providers are starting to realize that using electronic communication, collaboration, and social networks to keep in touch with each other and with patients can improve the quality of care they provide. However, it also exposes them to risk since the information they share on these networks has to be protected in order to meet specific regulatory guidelines, like those mandated by HIPAA. The prescription for success is to consider compliant use of these networks before and while they are being used and the technology that helps achieve that goal. Read this paper to gain an understanding of: What the regulatory landscape of the healthcare industry looks like What concerns you should be aware of from a legal perspective

Executives, managers, and users will not trust data unless they understand where it came from. Enterprise metadata is the “data about data” that makes this trust possible. Unfortunately, many healthcare and life sciences organizations struggle to collect and manage metadata with their existing relational and column-family technology tools. MarkLogic’s multi-model architecture makes it easier to manage metadata, and build trust in the quality and lineage of enterprise data. Healthcare and life sciences companies are using MarkLogic’s smart metadata management capabilities to improve search and discovery, simplify regulatory compliance, deliver more accurate and reliable quality reports, and provide better customer service. This paper explains the essence and advantages of the MarkLogic approach.

"Healthcare organizations have significantly more to consider than the average business when it comes to network and device security. Concern over code modification, key compromise, password-based vulnerabilities and man-in-the-middle attacks have caused hospital CIOs and CISOs to rethink their security strategies and investments. The threat to these devices has even been assigned its own term: medjacking, a shortened form of “medical device hijacking.” Download this white paper for five best practices to mitigate threat and attacks that can put lives, patient trust and the growth of the healthcare organization at risk. Patient falls were the largest category of adverse events reported at Barnes- Jewish Hospital. Progress in meeting targets for reducing falls and fall injury rates had been static despite multiple efforts. One component of the hospital’s Fall Reduction Program was a portable bed exit alarm system—a Bed-Check Classic-Check® control unit (CU) with Sensormat® pressure sensitive mat— widely used throughout the hospital. Due to high demand by staff, the CU was often not available, resulting in delayed care delivery and staff dissatisfaction. Loss or damage due to handoff between staff and the central service department resulted in additional resources and costs. Read this case study to learn how Barnes-Jewish Hospital implemented Bed-Check® Fall Management Solution as a part of their Fall Reduction Program, resulting in decreased fall injury rates and improved staff satisfaction.
